Random Monday- The Good Friend Edition
I believe one of the secrets of having a happy life is to surround yourself with the right people. Not stuff. People. Good friends. People you can trust to tell you when you’re acting like an idiot, or to tell you that you have spinach in your teeth, or that the back of your skirt is hiked up into your nylons.
A good friend knows when to push you to try again and refuses to let you give up, and when to listen to you cry and simply say “everything is going to be okay.”
Everyone should have at least one person in their life that they feel comfortable calling at 2am in an emergency. A person you know will be there to either talk it out, be at your side, or bail you out of jail.
A good friend doesn’t have to like the same things you do, they expose you to new ideas and activities, but never act as if what you like has less value.
Everyone should have someone that celebrates their success with them instead of feeling like everything has to be a competition. Someone who is truly happy for you- even if they aren’t choices that would make them happy.
I believe everyone should have a friend who can make them laugh until they think there is the very real possibility that they will pee their pants.
I am SO excited because one of my very best friends (along with her husband and son who are also quite fab) are coming to a visit. In a perfect world I would make it so all my friends had to live near me or were wealthy enough to come visit all the time on their private jets. Until then I’m looking forward to some great conversation, shared stories and new memories.
